I wrote about email being stolen,
at this link here. Now if email ID was stolen, what else is being compromised ? IM, that's right, instant messenger. Now imagine this, if the irresponsible person is able to write convincing email asking for help (which sounds very genuine), he / she could be use IM doing the same. For those who is unsuspecting, or without giving much thought, might fall into the trap & lost few hundred or thousands of ringgit.
What should you do if you come across this kind of thing ? If you are unsure if the other person is who you are thinking he / she is, don't just believe blinding in the IM. You have fix line or handphone, why don't just pick up the phone & make the call ? Even if he / she told you that the phone is lost, hey!, no harm giving it a ring to confirmed, or you rather loose few thousands ringgit???

Or you can be smart by question some questions to him / her. If you suspect something amiss, you can play games with him / her. Pretend as if you are going to give or borrow the money. If you play along, you might discover something is not right.
Stay alert !!!
