Well, 2008 is coming. I was trying to changed my blog template for the heck of it & have a new feel. But looks like there's not much option to choose from the templates available at blogger. So for 2008, if you were to ask me, what will I want to see changed in Blogger, I will say, give us more choices of templates.

Get Back The PC Speed
Your pc will be getting slower as time goes. One simply step can be taken to gain back that little performances you have lost :
Defrag your disks using DISK DEFRAGMENTER in Windows XP (under All Programs - Accesories - System Tools). The defrag process could take up to as long as 45 mins to complete.
If you do not have the luxury of time to wait, there's an alternative. Download Auslogics Disk Defrag. Click here. It will defrag your disks in no time. Try it & you will love it. What's more, it's free!!!

Time Galarie No More ?
Still remember on Dec 23rd, was shopping for watch at TIME GALARIE in Tesco, Jalan Lagenda, Sg. Petani with my sweetheart. If we have the power to stop time, we will give the particular sale girl few tight slaps on the face till it got swollen. Her attitude is just unreasonable, unacceptable & uncalled-for. Someone must have stepped on her tail, but then again, it's not an excuse to let it out on customers. We left the shop with total dissapointment.
A friend of ours managed to grab the customer complain number displayed at the shop. With act of frustration, the three of us sms & describe the bad experience. We will not step foot on that TIME GALARIE outlet anymore.

Where's My Car ?
I came out from the office, searching for my car frantically. It's nowhere to be found. Not at the usual parking lot. I walked to another nearby area, it's neither there too. Started to get panic & worried. Trying to recall back what has happened.
I walked back from the opposite office building in the evening, bringing with me one unit of pc to be trouble at the main office. Then it snapped me that, earlier at noon, I have drove my car to that office. Duhhhhh!!! I can't believe it. I actually drove there, but I walked back to the main office & I totally forgotten about my car!!!

Hectic Day
What a hectic day. All things happened at the same time & on the first day of work after back from my long holiday. The other office building is having problem with wireless link to the main office. The email & system was cut off. Was having problem troubleshooting & detecting the root caused of the problem. Was sweating climbing up & down the 3rd floor warehouse. It was hot & the ventilation is just bad. As if there's not enough problem for a day, my notebook conked when I needed it most, the operation guy reported few more pc problems at their dept & some networking hardware failed at the same time. It's just madness & chaos. Don't even have time for lunch.
When I finally resolved the wireless problem, more than half a day has gone. The tense & pressure eased. Just glad I got the problem fixed, even though I smell like fish & so tired. Need to get the rest of the problems resolved one at a time.

Time Flies
Time really flies. It's my 5th day stay at the North (not North pole of course.) Will be back home town a day after X'mas. Don't feel like going back home. Don't feel like going to work. The only thing I want is my sweetheart.

My First Time
Today, for the first time, I have my hands on the washing machine. Had a bit of problem playing around with the menu initially. Dump all the clothes & the water started to fill slowly. After about 15 minutes of standing there looking, at last, it started to wash. Felt something is amiss after a while. Darn it! I forgot to add liquid washer! DUH !

Balik Kampung
I'm at North, spending time with my sweetheart until 25th. Wish to have longer leaves, but no more leaves. Drove up yesterday after work. Caught in the jam at many places, Subang-Damansara, Sg. Buloh, Tg. Malim, Ipoh, Kuala Kangsar. The jam itself has taken me 1.5 hrs. The usual 4 hours drive, dragged to 5.5 hours. Strangely I don't feel tired at all along the journey. Why? Coz along the way, I kept thinking of my sweetheart mah ... hehehe.

Cleaning Up Shits!!!
Been busy at work. The IT guy just across the office got fired last month. Have to cover for that office as well. Basically in the morning I will be in the main office. Going to the other office at noon to clean up the shit / left over from the fella that kena sacked. Was wondering what this guy was doing for the past one year. Perhaps he was busy emailing & chatting online. There are too many pcs softwares are not being updated. Antivirus not functioning as it should be. Too many spywares / adwares on the pcs. Hardware faulty not reported & equipments not properly disposed off. There are at every corner. Backup not being done. What a mess!

Spam. Why me ?
Have you ever asked yourself this question... Just where the heck these spammers got my email address ? Well, it's not so hard to guess where they got it.
You do get mails from bunch of friends & contacts daily don't you? Do you ever noticed who it was addressed TO ? There are bunch of email addresses you can find there. If the mail was a forwarded one, you can find even more email addresses in it. You can sell these addresses to companies out there for a certain amount of money. These companies will in turn will sell it to the spammers. So how can you avoid this ? You still can do what you do best, email & forward mails out, but try to hide the receipients email address at the BCC field.
Do you subscribed to any newsletter? Many of us receives newsletter daily, be it about IT, parenting, social networking, etc. Some website guaranteed your email privacy, but just how sure are we that they keep their word ? These days, many of us have more than one email account. Perhaps it's a good idea to assign one email account specially for newsletter.

Ladies BEWARE!!!
Ladies out there, beware where ever you are. There has been quite a number of raped cases reported on papers of late. These robbers cum rapists prey on unsuspected ladies, kidnapped, raped & robbed them of their money.
Staying alert all time could atleast prevent you from being a victim. Be alert of your surrounding, no matter where you are, whether you are petrol station, bank, shopping complex, infront of your house, etc. Don't think when you have reached home & stand infront of the gate you are safe. A recent victim was forced & dragged into a car while she walks out from her car to open the gate.
While you are driving & before reaching your house, check the rear mirror for suspicious persons. Pay more attention if they are on motorcycles (could be snatch theives) or car (rapists, kidnappers). If they are approaching, forget the gate, get into the car fast. Lock yourself in & get ready to drive away if your life is threatened. You might be thinking it's silly & your neighbour will laugh at your action, but is your neighbour going to rescue you when you are under attacked? In short, will you rather let that silly laugh from your neighbour bothers you or you rather be kidnapped, robbed & raped? A small effort makes a great difference.
Stay alert all the time where ever you are!!!
These criminals should be hanged, shot or stoned to death. They deserved it.

Laser Printer
Now laser printer produce a superb quality printout don't they? But beware of the health risk that comes with it. These machine are high particle emitters. The small size particle from the laser printer makes them easily inhaled and able to lodge in deep, tiny passageway of the lungs, which could resulted in simple irritation to serious illness.
So the next time when you send your printing to laser printer, you know what to do.

The Wedding Test
Got this via email... guys ought to read this :D
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was a very happy person. My wonderful girlfriend and I had been Dating for over a year, and so we decided to get married. There was only one little thing bothering me...It was her beautiful younger sister.My prospective sister-in-law was twenty-two, wore very tight miniskirts, and generally was bra-less. She would regularly bend down when she was near me, and I always got more than a nice view.It had to be deliberate because she never did it when she was near anyone else.One day her "little" sister called and asked me to come over to check the wedding invitations. She was alone when I arrived, and she whispered to me that she had feelings and desires for me that she couldn't overcome. She told me that she wanted me just once before I got married and committed my life to her sister.Well, I was in total shock, and couldn't say a word. She said, I'm going upstairs to my bedroom, and if you want one last wild fling, just come up and get me."I was stunned and frozen in shock as I watched her go up the stairs. I stood there for a moment, then turned and made a beeline straight to the front door.I opened the door and headed straight towards my car. Lo and behold, my entire future family was standing outside all clapping! With tears in his eyes, my father-in-law hugged me and said, "We are very happy that you have passed our little test. We couldn't ask for better man for our daughter. Welcome to the family!"
And the moral of this story is:
10 career killers to avoid
Found this article posted at an IT site which is addressed to IT people. I felt that, this applies to others as well, generally.
Source : Network World
1. Failing to have a life plan.
"This is the No. 1 biggest mistake that I run into with my clients. I work with a number of clients in IT, many of whom are in C-level roles. A life plan is a business plan, in the same way that a company leader creates an annual business plan for what the future is going to bring from a corporate perspective. Three life aspects to focus on include one's career, personal and family, and financial goals. If someone has a good title and a satisfactory personal and family life but they're struggling to make monthly payments, then they're not going to be satisfied. They should look at those aspects for themselves. They should look at the competitive environment, the job marketplace and whether their skill set is current. If someone can replace them because they're cheaper, faster or better, it's no different than looking at your IT requirements. Most importantly, this plan should be written down. Only 14% of people do that. 86% are putting their futures in the hands of others. It's not a good place to be in."
2. Not keeping your skills current.
"The business landscape is ever-changing and there is more demand for jobs than supply. Not staying on par with colleagues and those vying for your job will be a death knell. With individuals able to do the same work that someone is doing anywhere in the world today and the prospect that organizations will chase skill sets around the world, if you're not up to date with your skill sets in IT, you're significantly at risk of being replaced. This includes the need to stay up to date in technical skills, business skills and soft skills."
3. Failing to deliver results.
"Winners in business know that it's all about accountability. Those who harbor a sense of entitlement for simply having put forth effort, irrespective of the results of those efforts, are guaranteed to fall by the wayside. It's very easy in a corporation to believe that becoming more efficient will translate into becoming more effective. So becoming preoccupied with creating greater efficiency may be a short-term solution to helping the bottom line, but it doesn't help the organization to grow. I rarely see people get the big bonuses in the organization simply because they understand the policies and procedures of the company. It has to do with delivering the goods. You have to know your customers, know what your marketplace wants. Great leadership is all about asking questions."
4. Confusing efficiency with effectiveness.
"Those who think that communicating via e-mail replaces the need to actually talk with people around them fail to recognize the importance of personally connecting with others in today's highly automated and technological environment. Communicating in person whenever possible is imperative for success-seekers."
5. Believing that you are irreplaceable.
"There is no room for divas in the workplace. As soon as you convince yourself that you and only you can do the job 'right,' your star will surely start to fall. In any organization, any person can have a good couple of ideas, a good couple of years and a few successes under their belts and they start to think that the company can't do without them. They start to sit on their laurels and find themselves in greater jeopardy of losing their jobs. Comparing notes with others in the organization helps keep people grounded. It helps anyone in the organization to have different trusted advisers' perspective on what's going on and how their performance is being viewed."
6. Knowing all the answers.
"This old adage remains true: Knowledge is power. Professing to know it all can readily stagnate a career. Winners remain unceasingly interested in learning new ideas and approaches. Asking a lot of questions is a hallmark of great leaders and great managers. When one stops asking questions and starts believing they've seen it all, they are devaluing the amount of change going on in the world today."
7. Surrounding yourself with "brown-nosers."
"Losers like having people tell them how smart they are, whether or not it's true, while successful managers and other professionals accept and encourage intelligence and creativity in others. If you're constantly being told by your peers that everything you're doing is wonderful, you need a better group of advisers. If your supervisor believes that you're doing a great job, that's terrific -- it's probably reflecting well on him or her."
8. Forgetting to give credit to others.
"Losers inappropriately take full credit for positive events despite the help or input received by others, while winners give credit where credit is due. Losers inevitably reap what they sow. If your boss is a real pumpkinhead, you can probably get away with this a few times. But if you keep doing this, chances are your boss is going to catch on that you're a glory hog."
9. Failing to self-promote.
"Bragging is one thing, but letting colleagues throughout your industry know of your success through case studies, promotion bulletins, or other such tools is quite another. Losers often fail to recognize the importance of letting others know about their successes, or go about it in entirely the wrong way. In today's disconnected business world, where many people work at a distance from their supervisors, it's important to let your boss and leadership know your contributions and that you are a valuable asset. This could be as simple as providing your supervisor with an e-mail once a week to inform him about what you're working on and your progress. By doing that, when decisions are made for promotions or job transfers, you're more likely to get what's due to you."
10. Losing perspective.
"Intuitive businesspeople recognize that, despite their best attempts to do everything right, sometimes they approach roadblocks and seek the advice and perspective of a respected friend, colleague or even a business coach. Those who fail to recognize their shortcomings are destined for the unemployment line. It has everything to do with forgetting the reasons why their business exists, why they're in this business, and what it is they intended to accomplish when they entered this industry. You need to be excited about what it is you're doing, and you need to put more enthusiasm into what it is you're doing. If you're not looking forward to getting out of bed in the morning, you're working on a downward trend -- you just don't know it yet."
Hopefully it doens't collapsed
I was sitting on the 1st floor doing my work as usual, suddenly a colleague asked me to go over to his place. He pointed at the floor, I saw the tiles cracking. It was a small crack, then the crack spread right infront of my eyes. In split second, more tiles cracked & this time the sound can be heard meters away. It's just like what I saw in the movie. It all happened so fast. All of us, including the other department staffs nearby got panic & ran away quickly, in fear that the 1st floor will collapsed. There were few curious one still dare to walked over & watched the cracked.
One HR staff & another Safety Committee Team members were quick to point that it's normal & nothing to be worried about. But how sure are they? Shouldn't they be getting the professional to evaluate the floors? The employees safety is at stake.
What's Wrong With Streamyx
Been having problem with the Streamyx link since last week. There's a stable DSL link, but just couldn't get connected. Calling up TMNet Helpdesk at 1300-88-9515 is another frustration. It's either the line is busy all the time, or managed to get through but non of the operators are available.
TMNet top management needs to buck up.
Malaysia Boleh!
After having dug to a depth of 1000 meters last year, Swedish scientistsfound traces of copper wire dating back 1000 years and came to theconclusion that their ancestors already had a telephone network morethan1000 years ago.
Not to be outdone by the Swedes, in the weeks that followed, Englishscientists dug to a depth of 2000 meters and shortly after headlines intheUK newspapers read; English archaeologists have found traces of 2000yearold fiber-optic cable and have concluded that their ancestors alreadyhadan advanced high-tech digital communications network a thousand yearsearlier than the Swedes.
One week later, Malaysian newspapers reported the following: After diggingas deep as 5000 meters in padi fields in Kedah, Malaysian scientistshavefound absolutely nothing. They, therefore, have concluded that 5000yearsago, Malaysian's inhabitants were already using wireless technology.
Attended the above workshop today. All all the workshop I have attended, I will say, thus far, this is the best workshop I have ever attended. The way the workshop is conducted is interesting, the activities or games played resembles the daily issues which everyone encountered in office. The content of materials are precise, very useful, informative, user friendly & easily understood with quite a number of case study.
Workshop specifically focus on the 'how', 'what', 'when', 'why', 'where', 'who' of reportings to superior, communication & information sharing in the workforce to achive or yield greater job results.
Petrol Increase Ah?
Pssttt pssttt !! Heard there's gonna be another fuel price hike soon.
Hmm... guess someone's reassurance of no price hike sometime ago is of no use at all.
How nice if our salary can follow this trend.
To Karen, "Selamat Hari Raya". Had a great holidays to you all out there. Don't play those explosive high fire power fire crackers, otherwise, get ready some green packets for the enforcement officers on duty. Will only be back to work Thursday next week.
Ghost Talk
Two ghosts met and both chat about how they died.
1st ghost : How u died?
2nd ghost : I died of cold.
1st ghost : How does it feel when you're dying in cold?
2nd ghost : Actually, I was imprisoned in the refrigerator. Initially, I was shivering, then my whole body started to freeze, later I felt the whole world was dark and I died. Fortunately, I died with not much sufferings.
1st ghost : You're so pityful....
2nd ghost : How about you? How did u die?
1st ghost : I died from heart attack.
2nd ghost : I see, why did u have a heart attack?
1st ghost : Actually, I found out that my wife is having an affair with another man. One day, when I came back from work, saw a pair of man shoes outside my house. Then, I realized that the guy was in my house with my wife. When I rushed into the bedroom, my wife was alone. I must find where that bastard is hiding. So I searched the toilet, I ran downstairs, looked in the storeroom, but the bastard was not there. So, I ran upstairs and searched the wardrobe, but I found nothing. Because I was too tired of all that running,I got a heart attack and died.
2nd ghost : Why didn't you look for the bastard in the fridge? If you did, both of us were alive now!!
Recycle Water
You have heard of recycle paper, plastic & bottles right? Well, what about recycle water? Aaahh, today I will teach you how to do that. Perhaps, that will helped you saved a little on the water bill. Hey! Even if that's just a few ringgits, that's also money ok!
Washing clothes! Whether it's first, second or third wash, don't let the water from the washing machine flow into the drain. Use it to wash the outdoor floor. Or, get ready a pail, put in the toilet. Instead of flushing from the big tank, ain't it better to use the recycle water ?
But of course lah, if you are washing your underwear, don't recycle the water lah.
The Green
Enjoy the view while the green is still there, before it's being distructed.
The green on part of the PLUS highway. Mostly on the hill.
Somewhere along the PLUS highway. Reminds me of Genting trip with my darling.
Blue sky, all things nice.
