Notebook or pc that has SATA hard disk type is the hardest to install, when I first had my hand on it. Spent more few nights trying to install Windows XP into an Acer Aspire 4310. Connected a Sony usb floppy disk drive & boot up the notebook using Windows XP CD. Hit F6 key immediately to load the hard disk driver from floppy drive. Upon loading the driver successfully, XP still prompt to load the same driver after it's ready to proceed with the installation. However, this time, it's not able to read from floppy drive !!!
I was about to give up after days of trying, then I decided to use an IBM USB floppy disk drive for last try. AND IT WORKS PERFECTLY FINE !!!
Installation completed successfully without hiccups.
I guess Sony usb floppy drive is not in the XP HCL list, which causes the above problem.
